Court issues arrest warrant for former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe
The High Court in Accra has recently issued an arrest warrant for Sedina Christine Attionu Tamakloe, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), who has been convicted in absentia.
The warrant follows an ex-parte motion filed by state prosecutors, marking a significant move in the government’s efforts to enforce justice.
Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has emphasized the government’s determination to extradite Tamakloe back to Ghana to begin serving her 10-year prison sentence.
Her conviction includes multiple charges, among them causing financial loss to the state, theft, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and violations of public procurement laws.
Alongside Tamakloe, Daniel Axim, the former Chief Operating Officer of MASLOC, has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The legal proceedings against Tamakloe and Axim resulted in guilty verdicts on a total of 78 counts.

While Tamakloe absconded from the country after receiving court permission to travel abroad for a medical check-up, Axim was present during the trial but chose not to bring any witnesses to testify on his behalf.
During a court session on April 22, Assistant State Attorney Yvonne Yaache-Adomako presented the motion for Tamakloe’s arrest.
“I have before you a motion ex-parte for an arrest warrant to be issued for the arrest of the 2nd respondent convict (Sedina Tamakloe),” stated Ms. Yaache-Adomako. She argued that the facts and exhibits attached to the case provided ample justification for the issuance of the arrest warrant.
The application by the state prosecutors reflects a robust approach by the Ghanaian government to uphold accountability and ensure that those convicted of corruption and misuse of public funds face the consequences of their actions, regardless of their current location.
