Bruce-Amissah joins NDC Gomoa East executives to donates to fisher folks
Bruce-Amissah joins NDC Gomoa East executives to donate assorted food items to fisher folks. Due to the ban on fishing activities by the Ministry of Fisheries, the NDC Gomoa East executives resolved to assist all fishing communities within their constituency.
This decision was arrived at due to the untold hardship brought to the fisher folks as a result of the ban placed on fishing. The ban on fishing in Ghana’s waters commenced on May 15, 2019. Ban dubbed “Close season” is aimed at saving species of fishes such as mackerel and anchovies from extinction in the country’s waters.
Mr Bruce-Amissah a hopeful for the forthcoming NDC parliamentary primaries in Gomoa east joined the constituency executives by contributing towards the procurement of assorted food items such as bags of rice, vegetable oil, etc. for donation to the fisher folks at Nyanyano.
In an interaction with journalists, Mr Bruce-Amissah congratulated the constituency executives for introducing this initiative and affirmed that this important initiative is consistent with the NDC’s ideology of providing social intervention to citizens.
He added that though the ban on fishing for a period is well-intended, the NPP government who for reasons known to them alone are priding themselves on rooftops as a government of social interventions could not put in place any form of social support for our poor fisher folks during this period of unemployment and hardship.
The constituency chairman Mr Anthony Effissah disclosed that this donation initiative has just started with the Nyanyano community and will extend to Gomoa Fetteh, Dampoase and any other fishing community.
