5-Day Photographic Exhibition “Spirit Possession” Showcases Ghana’s Rich Cultural Heritage
Accra, Ghana- A five-day photographic exhibition titled “Spirit Possession,” organized by renowned photographers Thomas Appleton Lamb from the USA and Thomas Fynn from Ghana, kicked off on Monday, April 22, 2024.
The event, hosted by FYNNexhibits, is being held at the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, National Headquarters in Ministries, Accra.
Inspired by the “Experience Ghana, Share Ghana” campaign by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the exhibition aims to provide a comprehensive visual narrative showcasing Ghana’s tourism, arts, culture, history, and natural resources.
The exhibition offers a glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of Ghana’s diverse cultural heritage, inviting patrons to immerse themselves in the country’s traditions and landscapes.
Tom & Tom, as the duo is affectionately known, embarked on a 14-day tour across six regions of Ghana in June 2023, capturing the essence of the country’s beauty with support from the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG).
Thomas Fynn, the Executive Director of FYNNexhibits, expressed his gratitude and excitement at the opening ceremony, highlighting the power of photography in storytelling.
He emphasized that each image on display at the exhibition tells a unique story, capturing moments in time that transcend language barriers and captivate viewers’ imaginations.
The event features various sub-themes, including the Rites of Passage in Ghana, Chieftaincy and Traditional Cultural Festivals, Traditional Music and Dance, Traditional Cuisine, African Culture, Pristine Beaches, and Landscapes, among others.
The exhibition aims to promote Ghana as a preferred destination for tourists, showcasing the country’s rich cultural tapestry and inviting visitors to explore its shores and experience its hospitality.
Speaking at the event, Judith Kelly, Senior Corporate Affairs Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, highlighted the significance of events like the photographic exhibition in promoting Ghana as a diverse cultural hub with stunning natural landscapes.
She underscored the importance of preserving and showcasing Ghana’s heritage while driving economic growth through tourism.
As the exhibition unfolds over the next five days, patrons are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking cultural heritage, natural beauty, and history of Ghana.
The organizers, Tom & Tom, are optimistic that the event will not only captivate local and international audiences but also deepen the understanding and appreciation of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
