2024 Election: NDC Atlanta raises funds to support party ahead of 2024 General Elections
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a fundraising event called “The Atlanta Strategy: A Fundraiser for Election 2024” at the Mega Event Hall in Norcross, Georgia, USA, on April 27, 2024, as a show of unity and resolution.
Important party figures came together for this event, demonstrating the party’s commitment to resource mobilization and strategic planning.
Honorable Emmanuel Amarh Kofi Buah, Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament, Honorable Ras Mubarak, former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Honorable Peter Boamah Otokunor, Director of Inter-party and Civil Society Relations, and Dr. Mary Awusi, Deputy Director of Inter-party and Civil Society Relations, were among the distinguished guests who graced the occasion.
Under the supervision of Alhaji Abdulai Musah, the NDC Atlanta Chairman, participants were treated to an evening of inspiration, entertainment, and fundraising activities targeted at supporting the party’s election prospects.
In his introductory remarks, Alhaji Musah underlined the need of diaspora support in financing effective campaigns for the December 2024 elections. He complimented the Atlanta Branch Executives on their organizational skills and the fundraising committee for their hard work in making the event a success.
In the absence of NDC USA Chairman Madam Vivian Maame Aba Dadzie, Mr. Moses Klu Mensah, acting chairman of the NDC-USA Chapter, urged party members to get ready for a power struggle against the incompetent NPP. Mensah emphasized the “adopt-a-branch” strategy and cited the Chapter’s past contributions and support to the National Office and branch levels. He argued that diaspora chapters should be members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), stressing their unwavering knowledge and services to the party.
Known by his nickname, General Mosquito, special guest Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah gave a powerful speech highlighting unity and resolve in opposing the current New Patriotic Party administration. Attendees were moved by his passionate speech, which inspired a feeling of purpose and resolution.
Acknowledging the crucial function performed by the NDC USA Chapter, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah commended their resolute financial assistance and emphasized the significance of teamwork in surmounting forthcoming obstacles. He stressed the importance of the approaching elections and exhorted party members to keep up their efforts to bring about constructive change in Ghana.
Speakers throughout the evening emphasized the critical nature of the situation and denounced the shortcomings of the current government, focusing in particular on the recent blackouts (or “Dumsor”). Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah said that former President John Dramani Mahama was capable of handling the situation and criticized the way the administration handled it.
Donations poured in from fans and sympathizers amid fervent fundraising efforts and assurances of support for the event. Apart from generating funds, the occasion offered a forum for collaboration and tactical preparation, where participants shared concepts and formulated focused voter engagement tactics around the country.
At the event’s conclusion, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah voiced hope for the future and his belief that the NDC would prevail in the next elections.
