12-year old boy carried off by floodwaters at Kasoa American Town

David, a 12-year-old boy has been carried off by the Okludu River after a heavy rainfall at Kasoa American Town in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region on Tuesday, October 7.
An eyewitnesses told Adom News that the unfortunate event took place when David tried to pick up his siblings from school after the heavy rains.
The slippers of David, the 12-year old boy accidentally fell into an open gutter, and when he tried to recover the , he accidentally fell into fast-moving river and was carried away by the strong currents. As of now, the boy remains missing and the authorities are trying to locate the 12-year old boy as search efforts continue.
Togbui Amamasor, the Ewe Chief of American Town, described the painful experience to the media, expressing how the residents were not able to help the boy as the fast-moving river carried the 12-year old boy away.
Meanwhile, Shaddrack Boakye Yiadom, the Assemblyman for the American Town Electoral Area at Awutu Senya East Municipality, revealed that a thorough search was conducted late into the night but failed to find the David.
Shaddrack Boakye Yiadom added that traditional leaders in the area are expected to perform rituals to help find boy’s remains. Authorities and residents have been encouraged to they must be very careful in areas prone to flooding as the rains becomes heavier.
