We Have An Anchor That Keeps The Soul
THE LAMP DEVOTION
2 Samuel 22: 1- 4
Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. 2 And he said: ” The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; 3 The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence.
4 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies
When someone like David talks about God’ s protection and security from his enemies you can be sure he knows what he is talking about. From deliverance from the bear and lion in the wilderness whilst taking care of his father’ s flock, through slaying the giant Goliath, through escaping from Saul, throughout all his experience as a fugitive running away from king Saul, David could talk of God’ s protection like telling a simple story.
Now you can understand Psalm 23.
Today’ s passage is another testimony of God’ s protection and shielding from danger. Meditate on the appellations the king assigns to God. Do you not admire king David? I admire David in every way because of his awesome love for God.
Today we learn songs of appellations to God. We memorize those songs and when we have ” praise and worship” sessions we even call artistes to come and sing these songs. David did not need to call anyone to sing for him. He sang those songs out of his experiences with God.
You see where my admiration of David comes from. I want to personally experience God like David so I can tell my story with ease and spontaneity. Let us learn from the king, that anyone who takes refuge in God is truly safe from any harm.

3. Father, please keep us close to You, that our security will always be guaranteed.
Declarations
I declare that God is my refuge and my safety. In Him alone I am safe, secure and shielded from all alarm and from all harm. I will lie down every day in peace and sleep because God is my Keeper. In Him I am totally protected from every attack of the devil and I declare that no one can harm me because His power surrounds me in the name of Jesus.
