Journalism and Freedom of Speech Criminalised and Curtailed; A Statement from NDC claims.

A statement released on Friday February 11, 2022 by the National Democratic Congress(NDC) and endorsed by their General Secretary, Asiedu Nketiah, made claims of the NPP government and Mr. Nana Akuffo Addo using their power to curtail the freedom of journalism.
The statement state claims of the NPP using the supposed criminalization of the extent of the freedom of speech and journalism to cripple the people into accepting the E-levy bill yet to be passed by parliament following its withdrawal.
The statement in question was released following the arrest of Accra Fm journalist, Kwabena Bobie Ansah, who was charged for publishing false news and offensive conduct. He has already been released on bail on Thursday February 10,2022.
Before him, two other journalists had been detained for such similar incidents; Captain Smart of Media Generale and Oheneba Boamah Bennie of Power Fm.
