[VIDEO] Soldier shot dead at Kasoa over alleged land dispute
A soldier in his late thirties was tragically shot and is dead in a violent confrontation over land rights at Kasoa Millennium City, marking a severe escalation in a long-standing feud.
The incident also saw two police officers narrowly escape death when a sub-chief allegedly opened fire on them outside the district police station.
The root of this bloody altercation lies in a long-running dispute over land ownership which has plagued the community.
It was reported that the brother of one of the military officers had purchased land in the area on their behalf.
Unfortunately, their efforts to develop the property were continuously thwarted by aggressive actions from a group reportedly led by a local land guard, a figure often involved in such disputes in the region.
In an effort to resolve the mounting tensions, the deceased officer, along with his colleagues, visited the disputed site, only to find that another group had already commenced work there.
The soldiers attempted to negotiate a peaceful solution and called for police backup to help deescalate the situation. Despite their call for calm, the atmosphere remained charged with hostility.
According to the alleged landowner, the soldiers decided to take further action and filed a complaint with the Millennium City District Police Command.
Upon discovering that their initial complaint had been forwarded to the Central East Regional Police Command for more thorough investigation, they set out to follow up on the matter in person.
As they departed for the regional police command, the confrontation took a deadly turn.
The sub-chief, a prominent local figure, reportedly tried to intercept them. When the officers continued on their path, refusing to be intimidated or stopped, the sub-chief allegedly drew a revolver.
In the ensuing chaos, he opened fire on their vehicle, resulting in the death of one soldier and narrowly missing the accompanying police officers.
The community of Kasoa Millennium City has been left in shock by this brazen act of violence.
