Saudi Fund to Support FIFA Nations with Loans

FIFA has agreed to invest $1 billion in Saudi-backed stadium-financing loans which will help for develop countries. This agreements took place on Monday 24 November, 2025.
FIFA said the Saudi Fund for Development is a loan with a reduced interest rate that will be given to member football associations to construct or revamp stadiums. Saudi Arabia is going to host the men’s World Cup for the first time in 2034.
Saudi state oil company, Aramco, has been endorsed by FIFA as a sponsor of the 2026 World Cup. The agreement was described by the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino as “a crucial step in ensuring our FIFA Member Associations have the facilities to make football truly global.”
FIFA stated that the deal “underscores a shared commitment to support developing nations in strengthening their sports ecosystems as part of broader efforts to advance social and economic development” in a news release.
At a ceremony on Monday in Zurich to mark the pact, the FIFA President made it clear that “If we Develop and build infrastructure, it will extremely, extremely be important. From the beginning, I would like to thank and put on record my thanks to the Saudi Fund for Development, its CEO, the entire team, for helping make this partnership happen.”
The CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, also said that “We at SFD believe in the power of sports to change lives. We are bringing together the funding power of SFD’s and the technical experts of FIFA so that it will leave something meaningful behind. This kind of investment in infrastructure will help people grow, create jobs, support the community for the years ahead and also give the the youth more opportunities.”
The PIF of Saudi Arabia has helped pay for the LIV Golf project as well as sponsoring and hosting marquee boxing events.
FIFA also revealed a worldwide TV partnership for the Club World Cup with streaming service DAZN in December of 2024 and that was two days before confirming Saudi Arabia as host of the men’s 2034 World Cup.
A lot of people has been talking about the Saudi Arabia for putting money into DAZN. This is about the $1 billion and it was confirmed a few weeks later.
