Produce Wontumi even if he is on a sick bed: Manhyia to NPP
Otumfuo’s Chief Linguist, Nana Kofi Owusu, has told the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Justin Frimpong Kodua, that they should bring before the Asanteman Council, the Regional Chairman of the Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka, Wontumi within one week.
The order was a given at meeting held on January 22 at the Manhyia Palace.
“Wontumi should be produced here by next week even if he is on sick bed” he told the NPP delegation.
According to our source, Asante Hene’s Kokosehene was granting an interview when indicated that, he was rulling in his own kingdom and that, even if the Asantehene makes a mistake, he, Chariman Wontumi will correct the King.
Chariman Wontumi has done the unthinkable by cursing Asante Hene’s Kokosehene with Antoa Deity.
The youth in the Ashanti region has indicated that his ulrtances have been filled with insults and disrecpted directed at the Ashanti Kingdom, Asante Hene, Osei Tutu II and his elders.
They also charged him for destroying the lands of Ashante region and Ghana asa a whole through illegal mining popularly called Galamesey in Ghana.
Some information gathered by this portal also indicated that Chairman Wontumi is currently not in Ghana.
However, the leadership of the New Partriotic Party has visited the Menhia Palace in Kumasi to beg for mercy for Chairman Wontumi.
Chairman Wontumi is expected to make an appearance with Lawyer Maurice Ampaw who is also alleged to have made similar derogatory statements on radio.
Management of the radio station on which the comments were passed was also summoned by the Kumasi Traditional Council.
Chairman Wontumi was initially expected to make an appearance today, January 22, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace, however, he failed to for health reasons.
On his behalf, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua and Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye led a party delegation to the Manhyia Palace.
However, conspicuously missing was Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Mr Kodua told the chiefs that Wontumi was indisposed “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”
The Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia (VI), in the absence of the Asantehene, sat in state.
All factions of the Kumasi Traditional Council were represented at the Palace.
Speaking on behalf of Wontumi, the NPP General Secretary pleaded that the accused had taken ill and requested two weeks for his recovery.
But, the excuse did not sit well with some of the chiefs.
As tradition demands, it was thrown to the faction leaders of the traditional council to have their take on the matter.
All leaders who spoke furiously disagreed with the request for the two weeks since Wontumi had failed to present a medical report to validate his absence.
They further drew in lawyer Maurice Ampaw for alleged derogatory statements in support of Chairman Wontumi’s statement.
In passing final comments, the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwaatia ordered that the Ashanti Regional NPP Chair appear before the traditional council next Monday.
He also ordered Maurice Ampaw and the Management of Wontumi Radio to be present on the same day.
In a concluding statement, the NPP General Secretary thanked the traditional authority and reiterated his reverence for the Golden Stool.
He dissociated the party from the invitation thrown to Maurice Ampaw.
The merits of the substantive issue are yet to be heard.
