The most recent group of ministerial nominees nominated by his excellency President John Dramani Mahama have secured parliamentary approval following their vetting and scrutiny by the Parliament Appointments Committee
Parliament Approves Additional 12 ministers-delegates: Check the list
The approved Ministerial Nominees and their respective portfolios are :
Francis Owusu Antwi – Minister-Designate for Bono East Region
Felix Kwakye Ofosu – Minister of State-Designate for Government Communications
Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah – Minister-Designate for Central Region
Charles Lwanga Puozuing – Minister-Designate for Upper West Region
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh – Minister-Designate for Health
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs
Issifu Seidu – Minister-Designate for Climate Change and Sustainability
Charity Gardiner – Minister-Designate for Ahafo Region
Salisu Bi-Awuribe – Minister-Designate for Savannah Region
Wilbert Petty Brentum – Minister-Designate for Western North Region
Joseph Nelson – Minister-Designate for Western Region
Joseph Addae Akwaboa – Minister-Designate for Bono Region
The minority, however, did not vote to approve Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs; thus, a majority vote was required to confirm him as the minister-designate. A voice vote was required to confirm Mr. Ablakwa’s permission due to the decision of the minority to refrain from participating in the vote to confirm Mr. Ablakwa.

The minority caucus further distanced themselves from Mr. Ablakwas’s nomination and approval. The minority caucus leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin in parliament asked for water and symbolically washed his hands. He emphatically stated that “we, the minority, wash our hands off the approval of Ablakwa; they should carry the sins of Ablakwa. The entire 88 MPs of minority hereby reject the nominee for the Foreign Affairs portfolio and same should reflect in the Hansard.”
Although the minority refused to endorse Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwas’s nomination the other nominees were approved unanimously
