MoTI inaugurates the National Economic Partnership Agreement (NEPA) Advisory Council

Ghana is currently carrying out the EU-Ghana Interim EPA, a trade and development agreement signed and ratified in 2016.
The goal of the agreement is to make trade easier by lowering trade barriers and tariffs on goods coming from the EU and Ghana.
A 14-person National EPA Advisory Council was set up on December 7, 2022, by the Hon. Herbert Krapa, who was the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. This is part of the EPA’s institutional arrangements for making it work.
On the Council are organizations like MFARI, MOFA, FAGE, the Customs Division of GRA, GEPA, and GSA.
The Advisory Council’s job is to keep an eye on how well Ghana’s iEPA and Accompanying Measures are working and to give strategic advice on project implementation and compliance with laws, rules, and standards.
The Minister for Trade and Industry is in charge of the Council, and it is supposed to meet twice a year.
