Man who removed condom Jailed for Four Years for “Stealthing”

A 39-year-old man from Brixton has been jailed for four years and three months in prison for committing the heinous crime of “stealthing”in South London.
Guy Mukendi, was found guilty of rape on April 2nd, 2024, after it was revealed that he had secretly removed a condom during sex without his partner’s consent.
The victim had agreed to have sex with Mukendi on the condition that a condom was used, but he had other plans.
The court heard that Mukendi had not had sex in a long time and had done it because he had not been able to have sex recently. This is not an excuse for his actions, and his lack of empathy and respect for his partner’s boundaries is appalling.
The victim, who has not been named, contacted the police in May 2023 after realizing what had happened. Forensic evidence and text messages were gathered by officers, which revealed Mukendi’s deceitful behavior.
The police have praised the victim’s bravery for reporting the incident and are committed to raising awareness about this form of rape.
The case highlights the importance of conditional consent in sexual encounters. According to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, someone does not consent to sex if the other person tricked them about the “nature” of the sex.
This is known as “conditional consent”, and it is clear that Mukendi did not respect his partner’s consent.
This is not the first case of stealthing, and it is not the first time that someone has been convicted of rape for this crime. In 2019, a man was convicted of rape for similar behavior. The law is clear: non-consensual condom removal is a form of rape, and it will not be tolerated.

Mukendi’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar behavior. The victim has also been granted a restraining order for five years, which will help to ensure her safety.
As we continue to work towards creating a society that values respect, consent, and empathy in all aspects of life, including sexual relationships, cases like this serve as a reminder of the importance of reporting any form of sexual violence.
How can we be careful about Stealthing?
Stealthing is a serious violation of consent and can have severe consequences for the victim. To avoid falling victim to stealthing, it’s essential to prioritize open communication and establish clear boundaries with your partner. Here are some tips to help you be careful:
1. Communicate before sex: Before engaging in sexual activities, have an open and honest conversation about your desires, boundaries, and expectations.
Make sure you’re both on the same page regarding using condoms or other forms of protection.
2. Use a condom or other forms of protection: Always use a condom or other forms of protection, such as a dental dam, to minimize the risk of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
3. Verify the condom: Before engaging in sex, make sure you both see the condom being put on correctly and that it’s not damaged or expired. You can also check the expiration date or packaging for any signs of tampering.
4. Monitor your partner’s actions: Pay attention to your partner’s behavior during sex. If they suddenly remove a condom or try to insert their penis without one, stop immediately and have an open conversation about what’s happening.
5. Trust your instincts: If you feel uncomfortable or sense that something is off, trust your instincts and prioritize your safety. Stop the activity and have an open conversation about your concerns.
6. Don’t feel pressured: Remember that you always have the right to say no or pause during sex. Don’t feel pressured to continue if you’re uncomfortable or unsure about what’s happening.
7. Educate yourself: Learn about sexual violence, consent, and healthy relationships. This knowledge can help you better navigate situations and make informed decisions.
