Mahama Asserts his Honesty Government During his Presidency
Former Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized the importance of truthfulness during his presidency. He believes that his commitment to honesty was a contributing factor to his downfall as president.
Unlike some politicians, Mahama was raised with the value of always telling the truth, and he carried this principle into his presidency. Even when things were not going well, he made it a point to inform the people of Ghana about the challenges they were facing and the steps being taken to address them. However, he acknowledges that his honesty may have been a major problem for him, as he did not believe in deceiving the Ghanaian people.
Currently touring the Upper East Region as part of his building Ghana tour, Mahama also commented on the power crisis the country is currently experiencing. He accused the current government of hiding the truth and not providing a timetable for the power outages, fearing that the people of Ghana would perceive it as a crisis. He emphasized the need to hold both the previous government and the citizens accountable for their actions while in power.

According to Mahama, the government is aware of the power shedding that is taking place due to generation and payment issues, but they are reluctant to admit it openly. He believes that by withholding a timetable, the government is trying to avoid the term “dumsor,” which Ghanaians associate with a crisis.
In addition to holding the previous government accountable, Mahama emphasizes the need to hold individuals within his own party accountable for any wrongdoing while in power.
