Liverpool reach deal for Slot
The Athletic has reported that there is a deal in place between Liverpool and Feyenoord for the 45-year-old to take over from Klopp at Anfield this upcoming summer.
Liverpool initially approached Slot on Wednesday, but their offer was promptly rejected by Feyenoord due to the compensation package. However, this matter has now been resolved, and the former midfielder is now able to make the move to the Premier League.
The broader perspective
Liverpool’s attention turned to Slot just this week, following Feyenoord’s victory in the Dutch cup over Nijmegen last weekend. Prior to this, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim were seen as top contenders for the position. However, it was Slot who Liverpool CEO Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes ultimately chose for the role.
