KNUST Student launches UXIBOX App to compete global e-commerce
Abass Abdul Latif, a third year KNUST Student with his team, has built an e-commerce and quick delivery service app called UXIBOX.
The purpose of this innovation is to redefine the frontiers of the new q-commerce industry emerging in Ghana.
What is the meaning of Q-commerce?
Q-commerce (‘quick commerce’) – sometimes used interchangeably with ‘on-demand delivery’ and ‘e-grocery’ – is e-commerce in a new, faster form.
It combines the merits of traditional e-commerce with innovations in last-mile delivery.
The premise is largely the same, with speed of delivery being the main differentiator.
UXIBOX is usable both on Android and IOS phones. One can download it on any app store.
The one app is to offer customers a convenient and dependable shopping platform for food, pharmaceuticals, groceries, electronics and delivery services.
Due to the strong customer proposition by the developer, the UXIBOX app is connected to a wide catalogue of products from accredited partner restaurants, eateries, supermarkets, departmental stores, pharmacies, etc.

To ensure prompt delivery, real-time monitoring, and effective customer care, the UXIBOX team has transitioned from using third-party agents to employing their own UXIBOX riders.
This shift allows deliveries to be managed within a controlled structure, aligning with the company’s vision for speed and convenience.
Abass Abdul Latif’s Story
Abass Abdul Latif while on interview with GHOne News said that the dream was birthed in Senior High School at Prempeh College when he begun making purchases and sales from different online e-commerce platforms.
“I loved online shopping so I bought some stuff from China and sold them on-line. I realized it was something I could easily do and that is how UXIBOX came about.”

“At first, it was just an e-commerce platform but as time went on we changed our business model and that is what you see,” Latif recounted.
KNUST Interest in Abdul Latif’s UXIBOX APP
The management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has expressed strong support for a student-led initiative.
Associate Professor James Osei Mensah from the Department of Agric-Economics, Agribusiness, and Extension stated that the university is thrilled to see young students addressing unemployment by creating opportunities for themselves and other graduates.
“This initiative will employ numerous youth in shopping and delivery roles. At KNUST, we celebrate and encourage innovation, and we are very happy that a team of our students has developed this app to address a societal need,” he remarked.
