After a four-year spell at the Scottish-based club, some top clubs in Europe were seen drawing closer to the player to secure the services of the Dutch-born wingback. On January 27, 2021, Germany-based club Baryern 04 Leverkusen secured the services of the young wingback for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal. His services played a huge role in helping the club win the league trophy last season. Reports can confirm that the wingback is likely to make a move to the English Premier League next January.

The decision of choosing to represent the Dutch national team over the Black Stars of Ghana was a challenging one for the wingback. Jeremie Frimpong revealed today to local media that he considered representing the 4-time African Cup of Nations Champions on the international stage, as even he was approached by the Ghana Football Association but eventually chose the Netherlands. “I considered playing for Ghana, and the GFA did make contact with me, but Holland was the country that believed in me,” Jeremie Frimpong via 3sports.
