President Mahama calls for immediate actions on gender equality
As Ghana marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his dedication to gender equality, mandating swift response to empower women and girls across every sector of the country.
In a statement posted on Facebook to mark the occasion, President John Mahama offered a sincere entreaty to Ghanaians to foster accelerated growth towards achieving gender equality parity because woman’s empowerment is key to national progress.
He stated that “This year’s theme; Accelerate Actions, insist on immediate corrective measures to ensure that we achieve gender equality. Ghana has made some essential strides, especially in electing its first female Vice President. Let’s build on this momentum.”
He brought to the forefront why it is very important to focus on women’s empowerment in certain fields such as politics, business, education and leadership, expressing that our country Ghana must keep on creating opportunities for women to make progress.
President Mahama again said that “We must all accord priority to empowering and raising women in every aspect, from education and business to leadership and politics. Let’s come together to work and create a Ghana where all women has the opportunity to reach her full potential.”
President Mahama insight is according to this year’s International Women’s Day them, “For ALL Women and Girls: Right, Empowerment, Equality,” which urge equal rights, power and doorway for all. This year (2025) marks the 30th anniversary of Beijing Public Declaration and public forum for action, a landmark document that has essentially inspire women’s rights policies globally.
Under the leadership of President Mahama, Ghana have been able to bring out meaningful progress in promoting gender equality, where our first Vice President is a woman serving a significant milestone. He also believe that the more we engage women n decision-making and leadership, it will bring innovative ideas which will be needed for restructuring things and also play a role in problem solving.
In observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD), President Mahama urged the people of Ghana to make good use of digital platforms for sharing meaningful stories and messages that promote gender equality. He encouraged the public to use the hashtag #ForAllWomenAndGirls to inspire relevant actions.
