First Batch of Pilgrims for 2024 Hajj Departs To Mecca Today
Today, Tuesday, May 28, marks the departure of the first batch of pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj from the Tamale International Airport to the Holy City of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
This 2024 year’s pilgrimage is expected to attract over 4,000 pilgrims from Ghana.
In preparation for the journey, the Hajj Board has been urging pilgrims to cooperate with organizers to ensure a smooth experience.
In an interview with Citi News, Abdul-Rahman Gomda, Communications Director for the Hajj Board, emphasized the importance of pilgrims following instructions and guidelines.
Gomda highlighted that there have been instances where pilgrims do not follow instructions, which can lead to disruptions and impact the overall experience.
“We urge pilgrims to learn to be with us. They should take instructions from us. There have been instances where people don’t take instructions from us. You tell them what to do and they want to do what they want to do.

That is especially being a religious exercise, there is a need for them to be very religious so that they get the spiritual dividends which made them go there,” Gomda said.
He emphasized that it is essential for pilgrims to be mindful of their spiritual journey and follow the guidance provided by the Dawah committee, which consists of Islamic clergymen who have studied in Saudi Arabia.
The Dawah committee will provide guidance on various aspects of the pilgrimage, including recitals, glorification of the creator, and what to do and what not to do at each stage.
Gomda stressed on the fact that this 2024 Hajj journey is crucial for pilgrims to get the spiritual dividends they are seeking from the pilgrimage.
The Hajj Board has also established a team to provide support and guidance throughout this 2024 journey.
This includes ensuring that pilgrims are properly equipped and prepared for the challenges they may face during this 2024 pilgrimage.
