Gov’t to repaint public basic schools to blue and white
The government has decided to repaint all public basic schools from their traditional brown and yellow colors to a fresh and clean blue and white palette.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has announced this significant rebranding initiative for Ghana’s public basic schools.
This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance the aesthetic appeal of schools and make basic education more attractive to students and the community.
Dr. Adutwum shared these plans during a presentation at the “The free SHS story” forum in Accra on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
He emphasized that this initiative is just one aspect of a larger agenda aimed at revitalizing basic education throughout the country.

“We are switching to blue and white. We are painting all the schools to give them an attractive outlook. This is the transformation Ghana deserves, and it is coming,” Dr. Adutwum stated, expressing his enthusiasm for the significant visual transformation that the schools will undergo.
In addition to the change in school colors, Dr. Adutwum also announced a corresponding update to school uniforms, moving away from the current brown and yellow to colors that match the new school paint scheme.
