Ghanaians can n ow travel to Morocco without a visa, says Minister for Foreign Affairs

Ghanaians will no longer need traditional visas to travel to Morocco, thanks to a new agreement between the two countries. The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a Facebook post on Friday, June 6.
According to the Minister, Ghanaians can now apply for an online travel authorisation that will be processed within 24 hours. This move removes the need for embassy visits or lengthy visa appointments.
The decision was part of a bilateral deal made during Mr. Ablakwa’s recent two-day working visit to Morocco. He met with Moroccan Foreign Minister H.E. Nasser Bourita, and the visa waiver agreement was one of the major outcomes of their discussions.
Mr. Ablakwa believes the new visa-free arrangement will bring both countries closer in several ways. “The borders in Africa must not be allowed to divide us, they can be bridges of connectivity,” he stated. He also said, “Diplomacy must make meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve.”
He explained that the agreement is expected to boost tourism, trade, and personal connections between citizens of both nations. With direct flights already operating between Ghana and Morocco, Mr. Ablakwa said he expects more travel and interaction in the months ahead.
Travelers and businesspeople alike have welcomed the news, as it simplifies access to Morocco for Ghanaians and is likely to encourage more cultural exchange and business opportunities.
The announcement is also seen as part of a larger push for deeper African cooperation. Mr. Ablakwa used the opportunity to reflect on the broader importance of diplomacy in shaping everyday life.
He ended his update by sending warm wishes to Muslim communities celebrating Eid.
