GAF Cautions against Call for Attacks on Soldiers
Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Cautions Against Call for Attacks on Soldiers
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has warned against call for attacks on soldiers, following a viral video circulating on social media.
In the video was a parliamentary aspirant in the Amenfi East constituency of the Western Region, Ernest Frimpong, who is running on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party , urging persons suspected to be involved in small-scale mining to resist arrests by soldiers.
However, Frimpong has refuted the allegations that he and Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah have endorsed illegal mining and encouraged miners to resist military personnel.
In response to this, he claimed that he was taken out of context from a two-hour engagement with artisanal small-scale miners.
The GAF has condemned the call for attacks on soldiers, describing it as “unlawful” and “a significant threat to the security and stability of our nation.”
In a statement issued on Monday night, the Director General of Public Relations at the GAF, Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, urged the public to refrain from engaging in acts of violence or incitement against soldiers.
