Four more arrested and remanded over train accident
Four individuals have been recently arrested in connection with a train accident that occurred during a test run of a new Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) Train.
This incident took place in the Abortia area, where a Hyundai Gold Truck became stuck across the railway tracks, leading to a collision that caused significant damage to both the truck and the train.
The court heard that there was no authorized access route for crossing the railway tracks at the location of the incident, which is situated between the Juapong road and the Akuse-Juapong road.
It was further noted that even if the truck had managed to cross the tracks, a large gutter on the west side would have obstructed its path, making it impossible to reach the Akuse-Juapong road.

On the day of the accident, the management of the Ghana Railway Corporation, along with 28 engineers from Ghana and Poland, were conducting a test run of the train from Tema to Mpakadan.
This test run had been previously announced to the public. Tragically, as the train approached the Abortia area, it collided with the ill-positioned truck.
Following the collision, the train was returned to Tema for a detailed examination, and the wrecked truck, which was beyond repair, was taken to the Juapong Police Station for further investigation.
