Excel in WASSCE 2020 – Akufo-Addo to free SHS first batch
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invited first batch students from the West African Senior School (FSH) to Excel in WASSCE 2020 exams and to shame critics, who feel that money is wasted and nothing good will come from the program.
He was convinced that the first group of Free SHS students would be excellent, excel in WASSCE 2020 and that it will ensure his naysayers are shamed.

On the last day of the two-day tour of Ho, on Tuesday, President Akufo-Addo spoke to students of Mawuli SHS as well as other sister schools throughout the municipality of Ho.
President Akufo-Addo told students that discipline must be the hallmark they carry along their education and career to help raise educational standards and to achieve academic success and to excel in WASSCE 2020.

The President explained his investment decision of pumping the countries oil revenues into financing their education and future instead of politics by saying that this money should be used to fund education rather than allowing some greedy politicians to use it on their own.
He said that the Free SHS introduction gave young people across the length of breath of Ghana and different economic levels equal opportunities to study high school and advised students to focus solely on their books.

He guaranteed that every obstacle in the infrastructure of the different schools would be tackled in order to guarantee a peaceful and resourceful academic environment for students and teachers.
Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Minister of Education, stated that the Government had committed itself to solving all the problems facing the Free SHS.

He said that the government also had given the needed clerance for needed non-teaching staff to be employed to cope with the enormous student population in schools.
In his welcome address, Mawuli SHS headmaster Rev Samuel Senanu Asieni praised President Akufo Addo for implementing free SHS, which he said gave parents financial independence.
