Ecobank Ghana launches ultra-modern Digital Learning Centres for two academic centers.

Ecobank Ghana has set up an upgraded ICT laboratory Digital Learning Centres for two schools in the country as a key component of the 2025 Ecobank Day celebration. The schools are Bishop Sam Memorial Basic School in Takoradi, Western regio and the Tetteh Ocloo School for The Deaf in the Greater Accra region.
The Digital Learning Centres were furnished with 26 computers and accessories, including student’s furniture and tutors furniture.
Ecobank also supplied a projector, inverter and free internet connectivity for 3 years. During the handing over ceremony, Mrs Abena Osei-Poku, the Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, said the bank has collaborated with key stakeholders to train the students and tutors who will use the centres.
Mrs Abena Osei-Poku said that “Our partners from Ghana Code Club have graciously agreed to facilitate train-the-trainer workshops for both tutors and students for an initial period of 6 months, focusing on web development, animation, robotics and artificial intelligence, among others.”

She disclosed that the bank is also working towards the completion and commissioning four Garrison Educational Centres in Kumasi before the end of the year. Ecobank is also trying to break ground for a similar centre at the Methodist School for the Blind – Wa in the Upper West region.
She stated that Ecobank have been able to complete and handed over six projects of Digital Learning Centres from 2023-2025. She also appreciated the Ghana Code Club for their support and collaboration. Mrs Abena Osei drew to attention that “This year in particular, they are helping to make the use of assistive technologies possible, ensuring inclusive education is a reality for our future leaders with hearing or visual impairment. Thank you very much, Ghana Code Club.”

Mrs. Ernestina Appiah, the Founder and CEO of Ghana Code Club, also said the design and configuration of the centers give more than just access to computer skills.
She highlighted that “The impact of these kind of centres goes far beyond computer skills. They will nurture a generation of young innovators and problem solvers who can apply technology to address real-life challenges from community development to entrepreneurship.”
