Directive to Domelevo to proceed on leave not in national interest – PLO Lumumba Foundation fights Akufo-Addo

The Ghana chapter of the PLO Lumumba Foundation has joined several Ghanaian individuals, groups and Civil Society Organisations to protest the directive by President Akufo-Addo to the Auditor-General to proceed on leave.
The Foundation is calling for the immediate reinstatement of Mr Daniel Yaw Domelevo, insisting that the President’s instruction is “not in the interest of the country as far as protecting the public purse is concerned.”
A statement dated July 7, 2020 signed by the Country Director for the Foundation, Razak Awudu maintained that the fight against corruption can only be won with strong institutions manned by “committed, selfless, patriotic and people with high sense of integrity and moral character.”
It said Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo has proven to be the monumental servant with an impeccable track record as far as ensuring strict accountability, probity and value for money is concerned, adding that his integrity and work ethic as the Auditor General of Ghana is unquestionable and unsullied.
“As an organization that seeks to promote the fight against corruption, we deem it necessary to join the call for the reinstatement of Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo, a chief anti corruption campaigner, as the Auditor General of Ghana,” the statement intimated.
“It is our hope that, the President will rescind his earlier decision to demonstrate his commitment to promoting anti corruption,” it added.
