Canceling Free SHS : vote Bawumia to stop Mahama – Ahiagbah
Richard Ahiagbah, the Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Ghanaians to vote overwhelmingly for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general elections to stop Mahama from canceling free SHS.
He maintained that the NPP’s flagship ‘Free SHS’ policy will only be sustained only if the party wins the December elections.
Call to stop Mahama from canceling free SHS
In a post on X, Ahiagbah accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, of attempting to repeal the policy. He asked Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia in the 2024 general elections to prevent this from occurring.
“Ghanaians can rest assured that as president, Bawumia will intensify the implementation of the Free SHS policy. However, H.E. Mahama and the NDC have criticised the Free SHS policy and called it a scam. They are plotting to abolish/cancel it unless you stop them by voting for Bawumia. It’s possible…” he stated.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia recently met with the National Executives of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to discuss his objectives for education.
Following the conference, Dr. Bawumia stated that the national executives of CHASS offered some “excellent” contributions to improve the Free Senior High School policy and general areas of education.
In a similar development, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has spoken on the rising cost of living, adding that it is a global concern.
During a meeting with clergy in the Central Region as part of his campaign tour, Dr Bawumia told Ghanaians that the government is doing all possible to ease their troubles.

“It is very clear that the cost of living has gone up across the world. Even when I was in Canada just a few weeks ago, there were similar complaints. There has been a major increase in the cost of living, and global inflation has increased fivefold, so there is a problem,” he explained.
Dr. Bawumia stated his desire to have a “open and frank discussion” with religious and faith-based organizations about school administration, with a particular emphasis on discipline.
