Asante Kotoko humbled by Al Hilal in Caf Confederation Cup group opener

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been humbled by Al Hilal of Sudan in Caf Confederation Cup group opener on Sunday afternoon.

Having qualified for the money zone after several years of being in the wilderness, the Porcupine Warriors could get all need away win to apiece their fans.

Rather, the biggest team in the Sudan league Al Hilal got their first goal before the break of the first half and that was enough to bag the three points at stake on the Sunday afternoon in faraway Sudan.

The first half strike by one Waleed Bakhet Hamid was all the home team needed to get Kotoko’s fans heartbroken on the day.

Zambia’s Zesco United and  Nkana FC   locked horns in the second group C encounter with the home team running away with two goals and three points on the day.

These result has placed Kotoko on the third spot on the group table with no point while Zesco United and Al Hilal seat the first and second positions with three points each but with a goal difference of one in favour of Zesco United of Zambia.

The coach of the porcupine warriors was expected to pick at least a point from the way game but this never happened. He made just a change to the team that trashed Conton Sport of Camerron during the match.

The fans of Asante Kotoko will be hopping that, the team will deliver in their next group stage encounter against ZESCO United at the Baba Yara Stadium. The fans will expect nothing but a win at their own back yard to set the camping on a positive note.

Any early exit from the completion will be a big blow to the coach, players and the fans who want to see good football and Kototo in the next round.
