Dr Ernest Addison
A group of armed individuals, who are suspected to be operatives from the National Security Secretariat, allegedly stormed the private residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison. As per Joy News sources, the scene took place around 5 a.m at Roman Ridge on Wednesday, March 19 while Dr. Ernest Addison was at home.
15 soldiers got his residential location in three separate vehicles carrying rifles who forcefully entered the premises. Immediately after arriving, the operatives quickly disabled the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system before requesting that Dr. Ernest Addison lead them to supposed “storage unit” secreted within the house.
However, the former Governor strongly denied having any kind of such storage units or caches of money on his property. Regardless of his reply, the operatives went on to search the residence, leaving the place in shambles . As they came up empty-handed throughout the search, they reportedly called in National Security drivers to take out four vehicles of Dr. Ernest Addison’, leaving only two behind.
Before they left his house, they also destroyed the CCTV monitor and control unit. According to sources, the family was contacted and instructed to retrieve the seized vehicles later in the evening which had been parked opposite Jokers Club in Labadi. Due to that Dr Ernest Addison and his family are said to be extremely upset by the incident.
This operation follows closely a month after a similar attack on the home of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Accra. A group of 12 individuals, consisting of nine military personnel, plainclothes officers, and two other operatives on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, reportedly entered Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence with the absence of warrant or advance notice. During that particular period , Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta was out of the country for medical treatment. As a result he stated that the incident caused severe upset to his family and tarnished his image.
