Adutwum lauds inclusivity of Free SHS policy

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana’s Minister of Education, has commended the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy for its role in promoting inclusivity in education across the country.
Speaking at the event titled “The Free SHS Story” in Accra, Dr. Adutwum highlighted the policy’s significant impact on student enrollment and educational support.
The Free SHS initiative, which aims to provide cost-free secondary education to all students, has been pivotal in increasing access to education, resulting in the highest student enrollment figures in over a decade.
Dr. Adutwum emphasized that the policy is a crucial step towards educational equity, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to attend high school.

“We are committed to ensuring that no student is left behind. The era of cut-offs has come to an end. Every student that comes to us will be supported, guided, and nurtured to achieve their full potential,” Dr. Adutwum declared.
He expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the Free SHS policy, believing it will lead to a generation of students who will one day share inspiring stories of how free secondary education opened doors for them.
The minister’s remarks underscore the government’s dedication to fostering an educational environment where every Ghanaian child can succeed without the barrier of tuition costs, aligning with broader goals of national development through enhanced educational outcomes.
