SMOGA ’74 celebrates its 50th anniversary with a gift for the students of St. Mary’s Senior High School

As SMOGA 74 celebrates it’s 50th Anniversary, the Old Students Association gifted it’s Alma Mater with a pavement project.
This project involved the paving of a crucial section of the school’s compound, specifically the pathway that links two blocks of dormitories with their corresponding bathrooms.
The initiative by SMOGA 74 comes as a thoughtful solution to a longstanding problem faced by the students – navigating muddy grounds when moving from the bathhouse to their dormitories, a situation that becomes particularly challenging during the rainy season.
This noble project, costing over twenty-six thousand Ghana cedis, was financed through levies raised by the members of SMOGA 74, showcasing their commitment and love for their school.
At the commissioning ceremony, the President of SMOGA 74, Mrs. Comfort Dela Ayekpa, emphasized that marking 50 years since their graduation is a significant milestone.
She expressed joy and pride in celebrating this landmark by contributing positively to the ongoing development of St. Mary’s Senior High School.
Mrs. Ayekpa also extended heartfelt gratitude to all members of SMOGA 74, both in Ghana and abroad, for their generous support and efforts in ensuring the timely completion of the pavement project, particularly before the onset of the rainy season.

The school’s Head Mistress, Mrs. Philomena Owusu-Ansah, voiced the institution’s appreciation for this timely intervention, highlighting the relief it brings to both the students and the management.
Esther Mullings, a member of the Anniversary Planning Committee, reflected on the profound joy in giving back to the institution that provided them with a solid foundation in life.
The project was solemnly dedicated by Rev. Father Dominic Amanor, adding a spiritual blessing to the occasion.
Present at the colorful ceremony were notable figures, including the national President of SMOGA, other SMOGA groups, and esteemed alumnae, underlining the strong network and unity among St. Mary’s alumni.
Founded in February 1950, St. Mary’s Senior High School has a rich history of empowering young women to assume responsible positions both nationally and internationally.
The Pavement Project by SMOGA 74 not only enhances the physical environment of the school but also stands as a testament to the enduring bond and commitment of its alumnae to the welfare and development of their cherished alma mater.
