Ghana to host landmark International Cashew Conference
Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Finance and Administration of the Ghana Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA), Mr. Yaw Oteng, has unveiled Ghana’s plan to host the upcoming Sixth Council of Ministers’ Conference of the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC).
This prestigious event, scheduled from the 16th to the 20th of April 2024 in Accra, will be accompanied by the Cashew Research Dialogue, Cashew Fair, and Exhibition, marking a significant milestone in the country’s agricultural landscape.
The CICC, established in 2016 with 11 member countries, aims to promote and support the development of the cashew sector, contributing to economic and social growth within member states.
With a vision centered on advocacy, knowledge sharing, innovation, and partnership, the CICC plays a pivotal role in shaping the global cashew value chain.
Addressing the press earlier today, Wednesday, April 10, at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture conference room in Accra, Mr. Oteng stressed that Ghana’s role as the host of this esteemed conference underscores its commitment to advancing the cashew sector and showcasing its potential on an international stage.
The event, he indicated, will not only highlight the progress made in Ghana’s cashew industry but also attract potential investors, paving the way for future growth and development.
According to him, the Cashew Research Dialogue, set to precede the main conference, will serve as a platform for ministers, experts, and researchers from member countries to exchange knowledge, discuss achievements, and identify areas for further research and development in the cashew industry.
“This collaborative effort will help inform policy decisions and investment strategies, driving innovation and sustainability in the sector.”
Simultaneously, the Cashew Expo and Exhibition, themed “Projecting the Cashew Sector through Local Consumption, Value Addition, and Job Creation,” will showcase a diverse range of cashew products, educate the public on their benefits, and connect local processors with potential markets.
This initiative aims to boost local consumption, enhance value addition, and create opportunities for small and medium-sized cashew processors.
By hosting these events, Ghana anticipates significant benefits, including increased visibility, foreign investment, and market expansion for its cashew industry.
The conference will not only elevate Ghana as a key player in cashew production and trade but also stimulate growth across the value chain, benefiting stakeholders at every level.
The Sixth Council of Ministers’ Conference of the CICC, alongside the Cashew Research Dialogue, Cashew Fair, and Exhibition, promises to be a transformative event that will position Ghana as a hub for cashew production, trade, and innovation.
The nation looks forward to the active participation of all stakeholders in the cashew value chain and the broader community, as together, we shape the future of this vital sector.
