Final year students in tertiary institution back to school today to complete the semester today as per the directive given by the president during his 10th address to the nation which was further echoed in his 11th address on Sunday, June 14th 2020.

In his 11th address on measures to fight Covid-19, he indicated that on “Monday, 15th June, the last batch of institutions in this phased approach, our educational institutions, will begin to re-open, with final year students in our tertiary colleges and universities returning to school to prepare for and take their exit examinations.
Final year senior high school (SHS 3) students, together with SHS 2 Gold Track students, will resume on 22nd June; and final-year junior high school (JHS 3) students, the week after, on 29th June.”
This decision is to enable students to complete their lessons and take their exit examinations at the basic, senior high, and universities. The BECE AND WASSCE examinations were postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in mid-March in Ghana.

President Nana Addo added that this decision to include schools in phase one of the easing of restrictions was taken advisedly.
Some citizens have raised an alarm of likely spikes in cases if students are allowed to go back to school. In his address, President Nana Addo indicated that the fight against the virus is not a one-size-fits-all approach. ” We have our own unique situation in the country, and we have always taken that it into account in dealing with this disease, much as we are prepared to learn from the examples of others.” He said.
