Demise of the Takoradi Girls is another blot on the Ghana Police Service. As I pen down my thoughts concerning the demise of our beautiful, young and promising Takoradi Girls, I feel so heartbroken.

My deepest condolences go to the affected families. God in his wisdom comfort their grieving souls, their ‘beautiful jewels’ are gone for life.Now let us visit the real issues.

Why were the Senior Police Officers smiling after the press confab? No minute of silence held for them? No show of remorse for their inefficiencies? Nothing concrete concerning prosecution, ecetera.

So pathetic! They think a ‘huge burden’ has been lifted from their heads’, but trust me: this is another precedent of incompetency on the part of Ghana Police recorded in the minds of many if not in our history books.

I believe this sadistic behaviour and how this case was handled will only make matters worse because it will embolden criminals, especially kidnappers who are now fully aware that they can jump the ‘potholes’ in our security as a country.

Ghana’s security deteriorates on a daily bases: little by little  the Police seem not to be ‘uping’ their game. The smiling incident after the media conference will cause me not to blame the ordinary Policeman but their superiors.

As a citizen, I can understand  their smiles – their children are not involved, so is that of the politicians, otherwise they wouldn’t have handled the issue the way they did.

It is true their affected parents didn’t report to the police on time but, our Police Service gave us more reasons not to trust or impose our confidence in them.

As a concerned citizen of Ghana, my message to all and sundry is this: exercise the utmost vigilance on  your children and loved ones.

You are the best protector of them than Ghana Police Service. Don’t leave them to loiter anyhow, hold them near you when u walk along the streets and in open places, never entrusted the to stranger when travelling or busy doing something, encourage them not to accept gifts or lifts from strangers.

Become their number one monitor because the our Policing system as it stands now, is another trouble in itself so PROTECT YOURSELF!!! As for Madame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, I won’t touch on her issue. The least said about her, the better.A word to the wise they say is enough.
