5 Police Officers Interdicted for Injuring Driver

Five Police Officers stationed at Bimbilla in the Northern Region, who are subject of investigation for injuring a driver among others, have been interdicted.
The Police Administration has interdicted five officers from Bimbilla in the Northern Region for allegedly assaulting a driver and injuring him in the process.
The officers arc Corporal Kenneth Amoah Korsah. Lance Corporal Prince Agyemang Dual. Lance
Corporal Prince Setordzi Minadzi. Lance Corporal Bruce Xomam and Lance Corporal Samuel Takyi.
The affected personnel together with others were detailed for snap check and patrol duties on the Bimbilla – Ycndi road on 16 January 2020. On same date about 2130hours.
victim driver who was driving an articulated truck was allegedly signaled by officers at the first check point on the stretch to stop but he refused and drove through the check point.
Officers on the second and third points were alerted and again their signals to the driver to stop were all ignored and drove through both check points. The officers therefore called the Bimbilla mobile patrol team to assist arrest the driver.
The victim drove to the Gbewaa
Palace in Yendi. abandoned the truck and sought refuge at the palace. The officers entered the palace. arrested the victim and allegedly assaulted him, injuring him in the process.
The Police Administration is against officers assaulting suspects who arc arrested. The officers have therefore been interdicted to allow for thorough investigations into the matter.
The Northern Regional CID has been directed to institute investigations into the ease.
The people of Yendi particularly the Gbewaa palace are entreated to exercise restraint while police take steps to investigate the matter.
Any person who at any stage was an eye witness or who has any information that can assist the investigations should endeavor to submit same to police.
