Woman arrested for acid on ex-lover

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 30 year old woman for allegedly pouring a liquid substance which is suspected to be acid on her ex-lover.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Command on the 4th of June released a press statement having in it the arrest of 30-year-old woman named Mavis for pouring acid on her ex-lover.
According to the Ghana Police Service, on the night of attack which 28th May 2025, Mavis visited the victim’s residence unannounced at approximately 1:00am.
The victim, Gideon Frimpong, a 29 year old taxi driver engaged her in a brief conversation after which Mavis asked him to drive her back home for which Gideon agreed.
On reaching a section of the road, Gideon requested Mavis to alight since the road ahead was bumpy and rough and his vehicle could not drive there.
During the stop at Ofankor on the 7days stretch, Mavis questioned him about their relationship. After the third confirmation of their breakup, she poured the substance which is suspected to be acid on him.
The victim was spotted by a group of people and rushed him to the hospital where he was treated and has been discharged.
Mavis had already fled the scene after the incident and attempted to bolt into a neighboring country. Currently she has been arrested and currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.
