We can unleash violence as well -Mahama
The former president of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has told the NPP that, the NDC also has what it takes to unleash violence. He warned that the NDC can do worse things if pushed to the wall.
Mahama the now presidential hopeful made the comments while on his campaign tour of the Volta region for the upcoming NDC presidential primaries elections slated for 23rd February, 2019.
This comment was as a result of the violence that rocked the rather expected peaceful by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency here in Accra.
In the early hours of the election, unidentified men dressed in black polo shirts and khaki trousers, entered the La Bawaleshie pooling station in Eat legon, fired gun shots and slapped NDC MP for Ningo Prampram Samuel George for questioning them.
The sad turn of events, led to the NDC press conference in which they registered their displeasure and pulled out of the election.
The NDC accused the NPP and the President Nana Addo for intimidating peaceful voters and NDC polling agents.
Several videos shared on social media showing the brutality has been condemned.
The eyes of the international media is on Ghana, and there is the need to ensure we do not mess our peace we enjoy or cause tension during such elections.
The Ghana police are on top of their job, conducting their investigations regarding who the masked persons who were using police branded vehicles are. They hope to come out with their findings soon.
The Ghana Police has confirmed that six persons were wounded as a result of the violence that erupted at La Bawaleshie in East Legon. The injured persons are responding to treatment at the various health facilities they were taken to.
