Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Former President John Dramani Mahama, has highlighted the improvement witnessed on the second day of the limited voter registration exercise.
After the challenges faced on the first day, she urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to consider extending the time for registration.
On Wednesday, May 8, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang visited registration centers in the Ayawaso West Wuogon and Madina Constituencies in Accra.
She acknowledged that the problems experienced on the first day, such as malfunctioning machines and other technical glitches had largely been resolved by the second day.

However, she stressed the importance of making up for lost time by extending the registration period.
As she engaged with journalists, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang stated, “If there were places where not even a single person was registered or where very few people were registered due to technical issues, then definitely the EC must make up for the waste time.
If it is an extra day or a few additional hours, the registration period should be extended to ensure everyone has the opportunity to register.”
The limited voter registration exercise, which began on May 7, will continue until May 27, 2024.
The EC aims to enroll individuals who have turned 18 years old since the last registration in the national voter album.
In addition to district offices, the EC plans to conduct registration in difficult-to-access electoral areas using mobile teams.
As the country prepares for the December 7 general elections, ensuring a fair and efficient voter registration process is crucial.
With the support and feedback from leaders like Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the EC can address challenges and provide a smooth registration experience for all eligible voters.
