NPP opening Kumasi airport and closing it is like preparing fufu without soup’ – Asiedu Nketiah
The NPP’s decision to commission and close Kumasi airport is like preparing fufu without soup, according to NDC’s Asiedu Nketiah.
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, has compared President Akufo-Addo’s and the NPP’s decision to commission the Kumasi Airport and then swiftly close it to making fufu without soup.
‘It’s like preparing fufu without soup.’ Asiedu Nketiah stated as he reacted to the commissioning.
According to him, he is very baffled by the actions of the ruling party and their decision to commission a project that was under construction. Mr. Asiedu Nketiah added that the President should have waited for the project to be fully completed before making plans to commission it. He described the president’s action as a poor effort and strategy aimed at gaining a political advantage.
“If we had finished it, airplanes would have landed there. It’s like making fufu without soup and asking us to eat. We should examine the president’s judgement, as I’ve already mentioned.
In a video that Nana Yaa Brefo shared on her Instagram page, he said, “There are bulldozers working everywhere, and you’re telling me it’s finished.”
About the commissioning of the airport
On May 10th, 2024, the president of the republic commissioned the Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi. Videos of Kumasi Airport’s interior were shared on the X pages during the official inauguration.
Despite the video highlighting the availability of newly installed facilities for public use, ongoing works had closed the airport, preventing public access.
At the entrance, the sign “Nante Yie,” which translates to “safe journey,” welcomes visitors.
We anticipate that the airport will boost the Ashanti Region’s international standing and contribute to the economic well-being of the local population.
Various stakeholders and government agencies attended the launch ceremony, which marked the official start of the facility’s public operation.
