UCC to Host The 2024 National Science and Maths Competition

UCC to Host 2024 NSMQ competition

The 2024 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition will be hosted by UCC (The University of Cape Coast). The battle of brains will take place in Cape Coast, a city known for having some of the best Senior High Schools in the country.

The competition will officially be launched on the 1st of October 2024 at 3 pm at the GNAT Hall in Accra. However, the contests will take place at UCC, affectionately called the University of Competitive Choice.

Non-seeded schools are expected to arrive on the 11th and 12th of October 2024. Schools will be hosted by the Suppernuation Hall, one of the best and most comfortable halls on UCC campus.

About 126 non-seeded schools are expected to participate in this year’s competition. These schools will be battling it out with the much more experienced seeded schools for the ultimate price.

The preliminary stage contests for non-seeded schools will take place from October 14-17 at UCC.

On 17th October the schools whose students have the highest cortical connections and fastest neuronal action potentials will be expected to arrive. The 31-seeded schools will join the non-seeded schools to battle it out for the trophy.

The seeded schools in this year’s competition include Presec Legon, Mfastipim School, Keta SHTS, Adisadel College, Wesley Girls, St.James Seminary, Kumasi High School, Prempeh College, Opoku-Ware School, Achimota School, and other top schools.

The one-eighth stage contests are scheduled to take place between October 19 and October 21 at various locations on UCC.

The National Science and Maths Quiz competition is known for its exciting and fun moments. Many students and alumni from participating schools attend to show their support. They are usually very optimistic that their school will win the trophy.

They wag their tails with pride even when no fly disturbs them, but end up tucking their tails at the end of the competition, often vowing to come back stronger.

Their optimism is often hard to dismiss. Many of these students are so skilled at garnering support for their schools that they can even persuade you to believe that vegetarians cannot get chickenpox because they don’t eat chicken.

The grand finale of this year’s competition is scheduled to take place on October 30, 2024, at the New Examination Centre (NEC) UCC at 2:00 pm.

Which school is going home with the trophy? which school gets the bragging rights? Will the Cape Coast schools prevent the trophy from leaving the land?

The mental war is looming, and observers are worried.
