Startimes Set To Return As Broadcaster For The Ghana Premier League.
In what is expected to be good news for lovers of the Ghana Premier League, Chinese-owned pay TV operator Startimes is expected to resume its official role as the official broadcaster of the Ghanaian top flight.
After parting ties with Startimes at the end of the 2023/24 league season due to unresolved financial issues, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been in talks to re-sign the broadcaster. Following the GFA’s separation with Startimes during the previous season, the Ghana Premier League broadcasting agreement was awarded to a (FTA) free-to-air station, AFA Sports TV, to continue with the broadcast, but this idea from the GFA raised concerns from fans. This was because of the quality of the broadcast, not hosting pre-match discussions, and sometimes the inability of broadcasting games.
In an unconfirmed publication made by Joy Sports, an affiliate of the Multimedia Network, yesterday, suggests that the Chinese Pay TV Startimes is expected to resume its role as the official broadcaster of the second half of Ghana premier league. StarTimes return is anticipated to elevate the viewing experience for the lovers of the Ghanaian top flight. StarTimes is expected to continue with the broadcast of the second half of the league with their high-quality production equipment and also detailed match analysis, which was absent in the recent broadcast.
With the agreement expected to be announced soon by the GFA, there is a sense of excitement within the football community. The return of Star Times as the official broadcaster marks a new beginning. Also with high expectations in the improving quality of broadcasts, increased match coverage, and also a broader international reach.
