SDA Youth Wing threatens street protest over Church Leadership silence on Election Date
The Young Executive of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, an energetic youth wing has issued a stern warning to the church leadership, demanding a swift response regarding the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024, otherwise they will protest on the street.
The group is deeply concerned that the electoral process coincides with their sacred Sabbath Day, a day of worship and reverence, which they believe infringes on their fundamental religious rights.
As the deadline approaches, the youth are growing increasingly frustrated with the leadership’s silence on the matter.
Despite their fervent appeals to the Electoral Commission (EC) to reconsider the date, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

The SDA Young Executive is now turning up the heat, giving the church leadership a 72-hour window to respond and provide clear guidance on their stance regarding the elections.
“We are giving the leadership a chance to respond within 72 hours,” said Mr. Isaac Baah, Chairman of the SDA Young Executive, in an interview with Happyghana.com.
“If we do not receive a clear response, we will have no choice but to take peaceful street protests and demonstrations to express our dissatisfaction and demand our religious rights be respected.”
The situation has taken a new turn with President Akufo-Addo’s recent call on the Adventist community to exercise their civic duty and vote.
While the president’s intentions may be well-meaning, his words have only added to the uncertainty and confusion among the SDA youth.
Many are left wondering whether they should cast their ballots or uphold their religious convictions.
The SDA Young Executive is determined to use every avenue available to them to ensure their voices are heard.
They believe that it is not only their right but also their duty as members of the church to advocate for their religious rights.
As they continue to push for change, they remain committed to upholding their values and principles, even in the face of adversity.
The clock is ticking, and time is running out for the church leadership to respond.
Will they heed the warning and provide clarity on this sensitive issue? Only time will tell.
One thing is certain, however – the SDA Young Executive will not back down until their voices are heard and their rights respected.
