“Save my daughter’s vision, please- Mother of 16-year-old shooting victim appeals for help
The relatives of Suzi Adwoa Penamang, a student of the Seventh Day Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, making a fervent request for financial backing to save their daughter from going blind.
This comes after a tragic incident on Friday, April 4, 2025, when Suzi washit in the eye by a stray bullet during a showdown between student, Bernard Amoabeng, and some of his classmates.
The argument reportedly started as a dispute over whether a gun Bernard kept was real and functional.
In an attempt to certify it truth, Bernard said to have used the gun, unintentionally hitting Suzi in the eye.
Suzi was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and has since been discharged. However, her condition remains critical, and she continues to undergo regular medical reviews. Her family fears that without immediate medical intervention, she could lose her sight permanently.
The case has sparked public outrage and reignited concerns about student safety, indiscipline, and the disturbing presence of weapons in schools. Many have called for urgent reforms and stricter measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Suzi’s mother, Afia Comfort, narrated that the emotional and mental strain the incident has affected her daughter.
“I’m looking for help from Ghanaians to get back the eye of my daughter. I beg you, help me operate on the eye of my daughter. I don’t have any help from anywhere. The MPs, President Mahama, please come to my aid. My daughter cannot sleep or eat. I beg you, help me,” mother appealed.
The family is making a public appeal to government officials, and charitable donors for support to fund Suzi’s medical care to regain her sight.
