NPP does not care about the future of the youth – Sammy Gyamfi on allegation of buying votes with ‘wee’
Sammy Gyamfi criticizes NPP
Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) national communications officer, has blasted the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly distributing drugs (wee) to influence voters in the recently concluded Ejisu by-election.
The NDC spokesperson claims that the purported behaviour reveals the NPP’s callous disregard for the condition of young people.

He also asked the Police to “take up this matter and investigate it,” calling the incident the low point of Ghana’s electoral process.
Sammy Gyamfi stated on Saturday, May 4, on TV3’s political analysis programme The Key Points, that the NPP’s action is intolerable, repugnant, and reckless and cannot be justified.

“What broke me down as a young man was the level of desperation I saw the NPP display at Ejisu,” Mr. Gyamfi said, expressing shock at the development.
“It is completely unacceptable, irresponsible, and reprehensible where they went to that shameful extent of distributing narcotic substances, illegal, illicit substances like marijuana, which can make people mad and cause people to suffer from chronic ailments,” he emphasised.
It is “the lowest point in our country,” he continued, implying that “they are destroying this country’s future.”
He said, “NPP has not yet released a statement denouncing this matter.”
Result of the by-election in Ejisu
Senior advisor to independent candidate Alan Kyerematen, Nana Ohene Ntow, claimed that the results represent a “microcosm of a bigger picture” in advance of the polls on December 7, even though Kwabena Boateng, the NPP’s nominee, retained the party’s seat in Ejisu with 55.79 percent of the vote.

The results of the Ejisu by-election send a powerful message about the current opinions of the people living in communities and represented by elected authorities. Although elected officials have always represented citizens in some circumstances, it is being firmly stated that this individual is who we in our community feel is in our best interests.

He said to Alfred Ocansey on the show, “NPP did win, yes, I take Ejisu as the microcosm as what is reverberating throughout the entire country, especially in the NPP stronghold, the will of the people as against party big shorts.”
