SAD: Driver Killed, Others Injured In Highway Robbery In Suromanya

News coming in indicates that a driver of container truck has been been shot death by unknown gunmen at Agona Suromanya Highway in Agona East in the Central region. Others also sustained various degrees of injuries during the robbery.
According report, the gunmen blocked the road at around 8:00 pm. They succeeded in robbing over 15 cars, and made away with over GH₵100,000 and mobile phones.
According to report, these armed men blocked the road for over an hour, forcing passengers to produce what they have on them. After some time, some residents who stay in the area got the news and decided to attack the robbers. They robbers immediately left the scene.

The driver of the container cargi truck, who was driving from Agona Swedru was not lucky as he was shot dead on the spot.
Residents at Agona Suromanya expressed their disappointment in the Agona Swedru Police, stating that it took the police more than three hours to arrive at the scene.
The residents believe that the driver could have survived if the Police had responded earlier.
This is not the first time armed men have attacked passengers and drivers in various highways in Ghana. These robbers always come prepared and anyone of driver who tries to escape them will be shot death.
In February, this year, an incident which was captured by installed CCTV cameras in the vehicle showed sporadic gun shots from armed robbers into the vehicle of the 2M Express.
Dozens of passengers were robbed at gunpoint leaving some injured.
The suspects numbering about five, according to the victims, robbed passengers of their monies, phones and other valuables at Asankare-Atwedie stretch of the road.
