Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin Champions STEM Education in Akyem Abuakwa State
As part of his 25th-anniversary celebration on the Ofori Panin stool, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene of Akyem Abuakwa State, has emphasized the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.
The esteemed monarch made this call during a durbar organized in his honor by the Adonten Division of the Akyem Abuakwa State.
The Okyenhene was treated to a STEM exhibition and robotics competition by Kukurantumi Roman Catholic Basic School, showcasing the talents of young students in the region.
In his address, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin emphasized that STEM education fosters exploration, curiosity, and problem-solving skills essential for development.
He encouraged students to pursue STEM fields passionately, equipping themselves with the skills needed to lead future scientific and engineering advancements.
The Okyenhene also highlighted the Adonten division’s educational strength, noting the numerous institutions within Kukurantumi and Tafo that could be harnessed to spur development.
He urged successful professionals from Kukurantumi and Tafo to return and contribute to their community’s development.
The overlord of Akyem Abuakwa state called for continued unity within the division and adherence to traditional procedures in resolving chieftaincy disputes.
The Chief of Akyem Kukurantumi, Daasebre Boamah Darko, also lauded Okyenhene for his leadership and commitment to education over the past 25 years, citing projects like the construction of ten Amoatia Ofori Panin Model Schools and the establishment of the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Science (UCAES).
The Adonten division, which comprises over 155 towns and villages, including Kukurantumi, Tafo, Asuom, Apapam, Takyiman, Osiem, Adoagyiri, Nkronso, and Akooko, is a vital part of the Akyem Abuakwa State.
The Adontenhene oversees the administration of the state in the absence of Okyenhene.
The 25th anniversary celebrations of Okyenhene are set to run throughout 2024, featuring a diverse range of events.

These events include a One Million Tree Planting Exercise and One Student One Tree Project Launch on June 3rd, Benkum Divisional Durbar on June 21st, Grand Ohum Durbar on July 20th, Gyase/Kwaben Divisional Durbar on September 27th, Asona Family Reunion on October 4th, and 25th Anniversary Football Gala on October 5th.
Other events planned for the anniversary celebrations include Okyeman Congress and Awards Night on October 19th, Okyeman Fun & Food Fair at Community Centre on November 23rd, Golf Tournament on November 30th, Non-Denominational Birthday Thanksgiving Service on December 14th, Mega Musical Concert at the Kyebi Community Centre on December 14th evening, and Children’s Party on December 28th.
