NTC using CPD training to siphon teachers financial resources – ATAG
Latest Update On Online Training For Teachers: NTC using CPD training to siphon financial resources from teachers – ATAG
The All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) has reacted to the compulsory online CPD training to be organized by KA Technologies as an avenue created to siphon financial resources from teachers.
It made this known in a press release copied to Newsghana24 after the GES invitation to teachers to avail themselves of one of the three online training sessions.
The union described teacher professional development programmes organized by GES as an avenue created to siphon financial resources from teachers.
While ATAG is not enthused by the move and has described the GES and allied education agencies as incompetent and visionless, it also feels the compulsory nature of the training is wrong.
“GNAT has accused NTC of using the CPD training as a conduit of siphoning money from teachers and that NTC has crossed their mandate,” it said to support its claims.

It said that each CPD organized by the NTC cost each teacher GHS75 per workshop. The union stated that the teacher must be able to attend the workshop as a matter of choice and that the training was meant to benefit the teacher. However, the letter that emanated from the GES announcing the training suggested that each teacher was going to pay GHS100.00 per day for the online workshop.
The union has stated that the cost of the online training is unbearable given that teachers will have to buy their own data worth GHS150.00 and pay an additional GHS300 from their CPD allowances.
