After all the corruption and conflict of interest allegations leveled against the National Cathedral, the management of the place of worship under construction has started calling for new donations from the public towards the construction.
The religious edifice, which was supposed to have been completed and handed over for use in March, is still a mere pit, with so much taxpayer money sunk into it.
A post sighted by NewsGhana24.com on x revealed that the National Cathedral of Ghana has started receiving donations from locals and foreigners towards the construction of the tower.
The National Cathedral is expected to give a practical expression to this vision of Ghanaian society mediated by the Almighty and represent a sacred space for the nation.
National Cathedral is therefore receiving new donations through its official Momo number as well as three different bank accounts opened at ADB, Fidelity Bank, and GCB.
On July 14th, 2024, the managers of the edifice under construction posted on x, “A vision of what it is to come! You can also join God’s Army of Givers to make this project possible. Momo Number: 055 575 0000 God bless you.”
To test the validity and authenticity of the Momo number, NewsGhana24.com attempted to send a GHS1.00 donation to the National Cathedral. The recipient of the fund registered with the number 055 575 0000 proved to be the National Cathedral of Ghana.
Ghanaians have reacted to the new attempt by the National Cathedral of Ghana to collect donations to continue a project that has been muddied with alleged corruption, conflict of interest, and inflated project costs.
Hon. Kudzato Ablakwa has shed light on questionable deals, contracts, and payments made to and by those in charge of the projects, prompting others to question the project’s importance to the Ghanaian economy.

pepper dem @obaahemaa_gh “This is a false impression they are creating; so that they can go ahead with the cathedral with taxpayers’ monies that have been looted. Think about it; which organization or entity would want to invest in a project they know won’t give them anything knowing this government 1/2”.
