Nahinso Chief arrested for unauthorized road works
Asokwa Municipal Assembly Officials Clamp Down on Chief for Taking Matters into his Own Hands
The Chief of Nahinso, Nana Addo Boaman, was arrested and granted bail over the weekend for undertaking road works without official permission from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.
The dramatic development has left residents and motorists in the area stunned, as the Chief took the initiative to repair the deplorable road network after years of failed promises from authorities.
For years, Nahinso, a community in the Asokwa Municipality that borders the Bosomtwi District and Oforikrom Municipality, has been plagued by a poor road network that has caused flooding and made movement very dangerous.
Despite repeated appeals from residents and motorists, the authorities have failed to take concrete steps to address the issue.
In a bold move taken by Nana Addo Boaman, he decided to take matters into his own hands and began filling pits and repairing the road to make it motorable.
However, his efforts were met with resistance from officials from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, who claimed that he did not follow proper procedures before carrying out the road works.
The Chief’s arrest by police at the Asokwa District Command sparked outrage among residents, who feel that he was unfairly targeted for trying to take action to improve their community.
Despite being granted bail, Nana Boaman remains undeterred and has vowed not to give up on fixing the road.
