MTN Kicks Off SME Fair 2024 to Support Ghana’s SME Sector
MTN Ghana has opened its SME Fair 2024 as part of the 2024 SME Month celebrations, aimed at providing a platform for SMEs to showcase their products and services to the world, thereby gaining visibility in the market.
The MTN SME fair, currently underway in Accra at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, has attracted over a hundred SMEs participating and showcasing a variety of goods and services.
Speaking at the event, Mohammed Abubakari-Sidick, Senior Manager of Business Sales at MTN Ghana, highlighted the critical role of SMEs in the global economy and emphasized the need to empower them.
He underscored the purpose of the SME Month celebrations, stating that they aim to celebrate SMEs for their enormous contributions to economic development, recognizing them as the engine of growth for the economy.
According to him, as part of the SME Month, they included a series of events designed to provide technical assistance and capacity-building programs through mentorship, workshops, and training.
“As a company, we are committed to providing more SMEs with support, new programs, digital tools, and resources to help them scale their businesses,” Abubakari-Sidick said, stressing that the SME Fair 2024 would also offer valuable networking opportunities.
“We will organize SME fairs in selected cities across the country – fairs like what we are witnessing today. For this specific fair, the vendors will be here until Saturday. We will hold similar fairs in Kumasi and other parts of the country,” he noted.
However, he urged all stakeholders to also support the growth of Ghana’s SME sector by patronizing their goods and services to enable them to grow their businesses and make them more sustainable.

The Greater Accra Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Tsonam Akpeloo, who was impressed with the fair, commended MTN Ghana for partnering with AGI to help promote and support SMEs.
He also applauded MTN Ghana for launching the SME Month initiative, emphasizing that it will greatly support and empower SMEs across the country. He urged for a continued partnership to help boost the economy.
Participants at the SMEs Fair, in elation, thanked MTN Ghana for providing them with visibility and the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the global market.
The theme for this year’s celebrations, “Business Done Smarter, Faster and Better” perfectly captures our strategic intent to lead digital solutions for Africa’s and for that matter Ghana’s progress.
